Is your skin actually sensitive? Here’s how to find out!

Sometimes our skin can seem…. irritable. We’ve all had those months where our skin just doesn’t want to clear up and seems extra delicate.

Does that mean your skin is sensitive ? Maybe, but probably not.

Sensitive skin is skin that frequently breaks into rash, redness or hives based on new products or the elements. But many people think that break outs when using a new product mean your skin is reacting to it.

That couldn’t be any further from the truth.

What it actually means when your skin starts breaking out, is that it’s purging and your skin is acne prone. Product doesn’t “make” you break out, but instead it surfaces bacteria that already existed within your skin.

So in a way, breakouts are a sign your new product is working  – good news!

But if you do have sensitive skin, you want to avoid things like hot showers and over-washing your face, which depletes your skin of  moisture and causes additional breakouts, dryness and irritation.

Products that are geared towards sensitive skin are the Intense Hydra Cream, Replenishing Night Cream and the Soothing Toner. Each product is formulated to nourish and protect your skin with it’s gentle but effective formula.

Think of the Intense Hydra Cream as a sealant. It locks in your moisturizer and gives your skin time to absorb the product. It can be used night or day, and also makes a wonderful primer before you apply your makeup.

The Replenishing Night Cream is formulated to hydrate your skin as you sleep, and target hyper pigmented skin. The benefit of the Soothing Toner is that it balances the pH levels in your skin, and hydrates your skin with nutrients as well as witch hazel and chamomile extract.

It’s easy to say that you have sensitive skin, but the only way you can truly heal your skin is by understanding what these over-used phrases actually mean.

It’s why we offer skincare consultations before each order – so that you are only purchasing the product your skin needs.
